Hellnback is creating a buzz across Indian Country. Karmen Omeasoo (Hellnback) is a member of the Samson Cree Nation, out of Maskwacis, Alberta. This native hip hop artist released his second solo album titled “#Fourteen91”. A pioneer in the Native Hip Hop scene, he is known with his former groups Warparty and Team Rezofficial. The album #Fourteen91 is a 12-track album featuring artists such as Def-I from the United States and Mob Bounce in Canada.
Hellnback released the single “The Spirit” featuring Westcoast’s duo group Mob Bounce which went #1 on the Indigenous Music Countdown. The album’s diverse features range from Derek Miller’s addicting rock style to Manitoba’s north star Rhonda Head’s classical vocals. To finish the album, the last track is a blast of Hip Hop heavy weights, spitting their mother tongue or firing lyrics. #Fourteen91 is an album that speaks stories of colonialism and oppression in a modern hip hop era.
Hellnback’s classic flows paint a story of personal experiences and growth. He also voices issues that affect Indigenous people in communities. Alongside from being a father and an artist, he also facilitates workshops with youth on issues such as suicide prevention and bullying.
